A few years back, I was driving down Rte. 100 in Glenmoore when I passed by a small market by Ludwig’s Corner. The first thing that stood out to me was the wide assortment of gorgeous plants all over the building, and a big, hand-painted sign that said “Acai Bowls.” Embarrassed to admit I had no idea what an acai bowl was (or even how to say it) I vowed to my husband that the next time we were in the area, I was heading into that market because it just seemed so intriguing to me.
What I did not expect at my first visit was the owner and operator, Angie Frame, to meet me in the parking lot to welcome me to her market. She asked what I was looking for – and because my thumb is any color but green – I explained to her that I just wanted something pretty for my patio. Over 40 minutes later, and I had learned all about the plants and arrangements, what else was available, and some local recommendations on restaurants, landscapers, and plumbers! Angie represents all the good people in Chester County. Local, but worldly, socially conscious, empathetic, funny, outgoing, and willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needs it. She and her team may have fantastic produce, plants, and baked goods, but it is her personal commitment to her community and her customers that keeps people coming back.
Grandma Zook’s is named after Angie’s grandmother. They valued hard-work, giving back to the community, and knowing your neighbors. It is easy to feel that spirit when you make the trip to her market. Open seasonally, each week the plant, produce, and baked good selection varies. There is a steady menu of healthy snacks, acai bowls, as well as gourmet coffee and sweets. With plenty of outdoor seating, customers can enjoy lunch, coffee, or a treat while meeting with friends and family.
If you are in the market for fresh, local produce, boutique plants and decor, I highly encourage you to make the trip to Ludwig’s Corner and Grandma Zooks. Have a salted caramel cappucino, sit on the picnic benches, and chat a while with Angie and Jen. You won’t regret it!
